Lacquered aluminum sheets
The processing of the aluminum sheets begins in the same way as the plates, the only difference is that in the first case the sheet is further laminated to reduce thickness; after this it is wound into a cold rolled coil. Cold rolling is the last step for some sheets, but other types are subjected to further elevated-temperature processing to increase their strength.
Some sheets are also produced using the continuous casting process in which the molten metal is cast through a curved path that directly produces hot rolled coils.
Aluminum sheets: application sectors
Sheets represent the most used forms of aluminum in industrial markets. They are used in:
- packaging sector, for cans and packages
- transport sector, for panels and tractors trailers
- home appliance sector, for cookware
- construction sector, for gutters, roofs and awnings
In particular, in the latter sector, lacquered aluminum sheets are often required. This happens both to improve the aesthetics of the semi-finished product and to increase the mechanical properties. In this regard, Laminazione Sottile can supply coated aluminum sheets thanks to the subsidiary Italcoat, specialized in surface treatments and coated rolled aluminium.
The company can provides different lacquered aluminium sheets based on the final use. The purpose, in fact, can be to increase resistance to corrosion, limit the formation of condensation or the proliferation of bacteria, molds and fungi.
