#AluminiumPeople: Angela Sarnataro, Finishing Mill Operator Laminazione Sottile

In this interview we meet Angela, a young and determined professional who has been working for Laminazione Sottile for just over a year. Angela, in the role of Finishing Mill Operator, has already had significant experience, demonstrating great determination and adaptability.
During the conversation, she will tell us what motivates her in her work, the challenges she has faced, her expectations for the future and how her ambitious nature drives her to always seek new opportunities for growth.
To start, tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your current role within the company?
My name is Angela, I am 30 years old and I have been working at Laminazione Sottile for just over a year. Right from the start, my role in this company has been that of Finishing Mill Operator, specialising in the loading and unloading phases of the process; specifically, I have worked at the Foil 1 finishing mill, initially flanked by experienced colleagues and then on my own; a few months after I was hired, I was moved to Foil 5 with the same position.
What do you like and what stimulates you most about your job?
The thing that stimulates me most about this job is the possibility to grow professionally and the opportunity to learn different tasks.
During your career within our Group, what was the experience that marked you the most?
The experience that most impressed me was initially having to interact with colleagues who were predominantly men. Recently, however, the number of women in production is starting to increase and, even after overcoming a slight initial mistrust, I had no problem integrating, thanks also to the colleagues who immediately treated me as ‘one of them’.
What are your expectations at Laminazione Sottile?
Definitely that of filling a prestigious role, different from my current one: mill foreman, shift foreman or supervisor. And I am almost certain that, with an ambitious and determined character like mine, and with the patience, help and example of my managers, it will not be difficult.
What do you love to do in your spare time?
When I’m not at work, I like to meet friends, ride my motorbike together and spend the day maybe eating something good.
What is your favourite book/movie/series and why?
One of my favourite films is Mulan, I saw it for the first time when I was a child and I was really struck by the way she acted: resourceful, confident and with strong values. The same values that accompanied me when I was growing up and still accompany me today: sacrifice and pride for the family, the courage not to stop in the face of adversity, not to conform to society and to always find your own way.
If you went back to the beginning of your career, what advice would you give to the you of the past?
If I were to go back, to the ‘me’ of the first day, I would tell her to be less afraid of this new experience, to trust her abilities a little more, and to continue doing what she is doing because, looking at myself today, I can say that I am satisfied with how I managed things and that today, thanks to this experience, I can say that I have grown.
